Open API

Tech Stack

An open API is a publicly documented interface that lets any developer or vendor connect to a system without secret agreements. In hotel tech it signals that a platform can be extended rather than being a closed box.

In practice

Vendors with open APIs publish documentation, sandboxes and clear terms, so integrations do not depend on lengthy commercial negotiations. This shortens the time to connect a new upselling tool, guest app or reporting layer from months to weeks.

Open does not always mean free or unlimited. Hotels should check rate limits, certification requirements and whether the vendor charges integration fees per connected partner, since those fees quietly become part of the total cost of the stack.
