A KPI is a metric a hotel tracks continuously because it reflects progress against a goal. Typical hotel KPIs include occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, direct booking share, review scores and staff productivity measures.
A useful KPI is specific, measurable from reliable data, and tied to someone who can influence it. Tracking twenty numbers usually means managing none of them. Most hotels work well with a short list per department reviewed on a fixed rhythm.
Definitions matter more than tools. If revenue and finance calculate ADR differently, meetings turn into reconciliation sessions. Writing down the exact formula and data source for each KPI once saves recurring confusion later.
