A cloud PMS is a property management system delivered over the internet as a subscription, with data hosted by the vendor. Staff access it from any browser or device, and updates and backups happen automatically.
Compared with on-premise systems that run on a server in the hotel, cloud PMS platforms remove hardware maintenance, ship new features continuously and typically offer modern APIs that make integrations faster and cheaper to build.
Evaluation points are uptime history, offline behavior when the internet drops, data export rights and where guest data is stored for privacy compliance. Subscription pricing looks higher than an old license, but total cost including servers, IT time and upgrades usually favors cloud.
