Retargeting

Marketing & Distribution

Retargeting is advertising shown specifically to people who already visited the hotel's website or started a booking, reminding them of the property as they browse elsewhere, with the goal of bringing them back to complete a direct reservation.

In practice

Because the audience already showed intent, retargeting typically converts far better than cold advertising. Common formats are display banners and social ads featuring the property, sometimes with the searched dates or a modest incentive to finish the booking.

Privacy regulation and browser changes have tightened what is possible, consent is required and third-party cookies are fading. Frequency caps matter too, following a guest around the internet for weeks damages brand perception more than it recovers bookings.
