Conversion Rate

Marketing & Distribution

Conversion rate is the percentage of website visitors who complete a booking. It is the central efficiency metric of a hotel's direct channel, connecting marketing spend that brings traffic with the revenue that traffic produces.

In practice

Hotel website conversion typically sits in the low single digits, with wide variation by property type and traffic quality. Doubling conversion has the same revenue effect as doubling traffic, usually at a fraction of the cost.

Improvements come from measurement, not opinion. Funnel analytics show where guests drop, and testing changes one at a time, clearer pricing, faster checkout, better mobile forms, separates real gains from noise. A conversion number without a consistent measurement definition invites self-deception.
