An OTA dispute is a disagreement between a hotel and an online travel agency over a booking, commonly about commission charges, cancelled stays billed as completed, relocation costs or guest compensation claims.
Typical cases include commission invoiced on no-shows the hotel never collected, discrepancies between the OTA's reservation list and the PMS, and charges for relocating guests after availability errors. Each OTA has its own dispute channel and deadlines.
Winning disputes is documentation work. Reconciling OTA invoices against PMS data monthly, keeping evidence of cancellations and modification timestamps, and responding within the window. Hotels that never audit OTA invoices reliably pay commission on stays that did not happen.
