A hotel loyalty program rewards repeat guests with benefits such as member rates, points, upgrades or perks, aiming to shift future bookings to the direct channel and increase visit frequency and lifetime value.
Big chains run point currencies, while independents typically succeed with simpler recognition-based programs, instant member rates, a welcome amenity, flexible checkout. The member rate also has a distribution function, it justifies a lower direct price without breaking public parity clauses.
A program is only worth what members feel. Points that never reach a reward and benefits that front desk staff do not honor destroy trust faster than having no program. Measuring member direct booking share and repeat rate tells whether the investment pays.
