Workflow automation is connecting hotel systems and rules so routine multi-step processes, such as sending pre-arrival messages, creating housekeeping tasks or flagging VIP arrivals, run automatically on triggers instead of depending on someone remembering.
Typical automations chain a trigger, a condition and actions. A booking arrives, the guest is a returner, so the PMS tags the profile, the CRM schedules a welcome message and the front desk gets a note. Modern platforms make these flows configurable without code.
Automations fail silently when data or integrations change, so each important flow needs monitoring or a periodic check that it still fires. Documenting what runs where prevents the classic situation where nobody remembers why a message is sent or dares to touch it.
