RMS (Revenue Management System)

Revenue & Pricing

A Revenue Management System (RMS) is software that analyzes demand, booking pace, competitor rates and historical data to recommend or automatically set room prices, aiming to sell the right room at the right price at the right time.

In practice

The RMS ingests reservations from the PMS, rate data from rate shopping tools and market signals such as events and flight searches. It then produces price recommendations per room type and date, which can be pushed automatically to the channel manager.

An RMS is only as good as its data feeds and the trust the team places in it. Hotels that override every recommendation gain nothing, and hotels that never review the system's logic miss configuration errors. A weekly review of accepted versus overridden prices keeps both in check.
