NLP (Natural Language Processing) is the field of AI focused on machines understanding and generating human language. In hotels it powers chatbots, review analysis, sentiment detection and automatic translation of guest communication.
Classic NLP tasks include detecting intent in a guest message, extracting entities such as dates and room types, classifying review sentiment and translating between languages. Modern LLMs perform most of these tasks with little task-specific engineering.
For buyers, NLP is now mostly an ingredient rather than a product category. The evaluation question is not whether a tool uses NLP but how accurately it handles the hotel's real languages, message styles and edge cases, which only testing with real samples reveals.
