Schema markup is code added to a website that describes its content in a standardized vocabulary machines understand, telling search engines and AI systems explicitly that a page represents a hotel, its rooms, prices, reviews or FAQs.
For hotels, relevant schema types include the hotel entity itself with address and amenities, offers, review ratings and FAQ content. Correct markup makes pages eligible for rich results and gives AI answer engines clean facts to cite.
Markup must mirror what the page visibly shows. Marking up ratings or prices that visitors cannot see violates guidelines and risks penalties. Validation tools catch syntax errors, but only a human review catches markup that has drifted from the actual page content.
